Yusuke Urameshi is a street-brawling delinquent with a tough guy approach to everything. Yusuke's mother Atsuko, an alcoholic, had him at the age of 14 and shows little interest in raising her son. He has a reserved seat in the guidance counselor's office, and numerous other delinquents in the city are trying to take him on. Yusuke is pretty fed up with life.
However, no one expects a sudden act of heroism on his part: he dies trying to save a little boy from a speeding car. In fact, when he arrives in the afterlife, he is informed that no one was expecting him to die that way, and were not prepared for his arrival.
After numerous tests to gauge his worth, Yusuke is eventually revived, and is assigned to work for the Spirit Realm as a detective investigating demonic cases in the human world. He comes into spiritual abilities of his own, and enlists the help of numerous friends from Reikai (spirit world), Makai (demon world, translated in the English manga as the Demon Plane) and Ningenkai (human world) to aid him in his cases, and fight off demons and humans seeking to usurp and rule over all three worlds.

I have both movies. The first isn't good at all. The voices aren't the same as the show and the plot is weak.
The secound movie is far better but the voices still aren't the same. Neither have any realtion to the show though. (ie neither talk about how Yusuke is a demon.)

Yes, it would, but I would hate that. The manga only has 110 chapters, and they've stuck pretty well to that. If they kept making more, it would go way past the original story and it would probably end up very horrible story-wise. I wouldn't want to see it ruined like that.

Just 16 minor things:
1)THIS ANIME ROCKS!!!
2)Yusuke looks much better without all that gell in his hair.
3)Kurama is the sexyest thing ever drawn and shown on an anime serie.
4) Hiei follows very close.
5) Koenma and is pacifier, are just plain adorable.
6) Sometimes through out the series Botan is just so annoying!
7) Genkai is the teacher we all adore and want to have. Best old hag ever!
8) The best season was the first, the worts was the second.
9) Toguro needs to get laid.
10) Sensui has a personality issue.
11) Itsuki is definatevely gay, and yah, everybody got that one down, oh! and he may or may not be a necrophiliac, but he's for sure a very romantic and kindda cute guy.
12) From all the new psychos that appeared in Chapter Black Saga I like the Game master the most, and i adore the ep of the power of Taboo. Oh! and Kurama's death plant in the 84ºep is the best! About sniper... well, he just pulls my trigger!
13) Matsuro is just weird.
14) Yomi and is kid are a great aquisition to the serie.
15) Yusuke and kaiko, should get married and rule over demon world.
I always imagine Yusuke as a big boss of the demon world.

I began watching this anime when I was young, say around the age of 12. When I first saw it, I absolutely loved it. Now, I'm 18 and it's no surprise that I still love it today, if not more, than when I was a kid. This show, in many ways is truly inspirational. For example look at how Kuwabara applied himself to his studies and went from doing bad in class to getting into a good school. I take these examples and apply them to my life. There still could be a chance of another Yu Yu Hakusho Movie, another season, or a spin-off anime series. If you haven't noticed, the 4th season has yet to be released and will be on January 19th of 2009, meaning that once all of the seasons are released to the public, they may bring something else into the Yu Yu Hakusho story. I'm 23 and I LOVE this show in MY opinion it's the BRST anime eveer I feel it ended way too soon. Me and my friends will be making a sudo anime. And I don't think we will be able to make it even half as good as YU YUHakisho was. No matter how hard we try. And for those of you who hae no idea what sudo anime is its anime not done in the traditonal manner or by pepole other than the japanees. Were all americans. And I plan to buy the wjole series at best buy next month.
