and as far as the names I believe that there was some kind of connection with north south west and east...I believe genbu with with west, sieryu was east i think. as far as the other two I'll need to look it up again.

hey bottom anonymous; the four saint beasts aer all based off of the four chinese seasonal animals; Genbu the northern turtle of fall, Byakko the western tiger of spring, Seiryu the eastern dragon of winter, and Suzaku, or Zho Que, the southern phoenix of summer. These four have been used in ennumerous animes as enemies, like in Inuyasha, this show, even Digimon.
